Hello, I’m Dr Kate Paine, an Australian living with my family in beautiful Switzerland.
I have a PhD in Communication and Creative Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Professional Writing, both from Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.
I’ve developed and delivered educational programmes curriculum from primary to postgraduate level and beyond in Australia and the UK. I’ve also worked as a senior policy officer for Australia’s key vocational education and training authority, as a careers counsellor, researcher, and writer, and as an organisational education consultant to the non-profit sector.
I love helping my clients become skilled and confident creators, thinkers, and writers, confident in their own ability to say what they want to say in the most efficient and beautiful way possible. My focus is on writing skills, both creative and academic, as well as research skills, from the planning stages onwards to completion. My own writing includes essays and creative nonfiction, poetry, and short and long fiction.
My other big love is music, and along with Writing and Research Skills, I have a music-teaching studio focused on providing an alternative path into the world of music: www.discovering-music.com
There are many similarities between writing and music, both in terms of the strategies I use when teaching but also with regard to the creative process that comes into play when writing, composing, improvising, and performing.
